Kwale 10,000 bpd refinery

Deerfield Energy Services LLC was built and commissioned in 2021 as a modular refinery with an initial capacity of 10,000 barrels per day (bpd). The design is scalable, allowing for future expansion to increase capacity to 60,000 bpd. The refinery produces various products, including Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) or diesel, Kerosene and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK), Light Fuel Oil (LFO), and Naphtha, which is used as a feedstock for Premium Motor Spirit production. The first batch of refined products was produced in 2021 after a four-year construction period that was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The plant is built to meet both Nigerian Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) standards and international codes such as API, ASME, ASTM, and BS. It is also equipped with residual gas recycling to power its burners and features insulated pipelines to improve safety and energy efficiency. As one of Nigeria’s first modular refineries, Deerfield Energy Services LLC has played a key role in reducing import dependence, preventing pipeline theft, and decreasing foreign exchange costs. Future development plans include converting Naphtha to petrol (PMS) through reforming units, which will expand product diversity and increase the plant’s capacity.
